IneQuality between reality and Perception
This is the first comprehensive study of perceptions of inequality in Italy!
The IneqPer project (2023–2025) investigates:
Whether, and to what extent, people perceive inequalities related to socio-economic positions, gender, and immigration status as a relevant societal issue.
How people perceive their own position in society in relation to such inequalities.
Which individual and contextual factors correlate to people’s perceptions of inequality.
We aim to:
1. Develop a survey for a representative sample of the Italian adult population.
2. Design and implement survey experiments that assess social (mis) perceptions and test how they can be challenged.
3. Analyse the main determinants

The final project meeting was held in Pavia on January 20, 2026. The meeting aimed to review the project’s achievements and plan the next steps of the ongoing work.
The INEQPER Final Conference included presentations and discussions on the project and its findings from the questionnaire and experiments, enriched by valuable contributions from external scholars.
